We took part in the 17th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security in Vienna. Ali Recai Yekta presented our research from the FINESSE project: a Vehicle Security Operations Center (V-SOC) built for the specific demands of cybersecurity in multi-modal transport systems.
Digitisation and connectivity in transport open up new possibilities, and they bring complex problems with them, above all when autonomous vehicles and trains have to be monitored. One of the hardest parts is that these assets usually operate outside the manufacturer’s direct physical control. Talking to other researchers at the conference gave us concrete input for the multi-modal side of security monitoring.
We combine smart sensors with data analysis to spot and counter attacks early. We look at what the automotive and the rail sector each require, and work towards a single security approach that covers both.
